Engagement Shoot in Iceland – In Rauðhólar
I spend a lovely time over Christmas photographing this beautiful couple in Heiðmörk, a national park in Iceland.
We could not have asked for a better day, the natural light outside was great and the skies kept clear. I love shooting in Iceland even though in the winter time it can get quite dark. The landscape is varied and who doesn’t love to go for a little ride on the ice!
One of my favourite places to shoot is in a forest, in this photoshoot we managed to find a couple of deep green pine trees. They wrapped perfectly around the couple and I loved the contrast that gave. The happy couple in love was absolutely brilliant and was ever so eager to walk on ice and climb up the red mountains Rauðhólar! Look how natural they look in front of the camera too 🙂 They had just the best story, had been in the same school as children but not really noticed each other. Then many years meet each other and it turned out that his parent where living on the floor above her apartment! Iceland is clearly a small place!
In Iceland in December the daylight will only last for about three hours an as it was a natural engagement shoot in Iceland I wasn’t going to be using flash as I wanted to focus on the natural light. We did manage to go to few different location which resulted in some lovely background, such as the forest, the frozen lake and the red hills of Rauðhólar. Pss if I let you on a secret then I have to admit it was all in 10 minutes walking distance from each other!
I had a lovely time in Iceland and I am looking forward to go back there next year for some weddings!
